Myopia is the medical term for nearsightedness. Without corrective lenses, people with myopia can see objects that are close better than objects that are far away. It also means that the eye is too long, or that the cornea is too steeply curved. Light rays entering the eye with myopia focus the image in front of the retina, rather than directly on it. This results in a blurred image on the retina, and a need for corrective lenses.
